Antrim, County, was one of the six counties of Northern Ireland. It occupied the northeast corner of the island of Ireland. County Antrim ceased to be used as an administrative area when local government was reorganized in 1973. The reorganization split the region into the districts of Antrim, Moyle, Ballymoney, Ballymena, Larne, Carrickfergus, and Belfast. Other parts of the old county went to make up parts of the new Coleraine, Lisburn, Castlereagh, and Craigavon districts.
