American Chemical Society is an organization of chemists and chemical engineers. It has more than 163,000 members and is the world's largest scientific society. It consists of more than 30 professional divisions. Local groups meet throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. It was founded in 1876. The society's headquarters are in Washington, D.C. The best-known publications of the American Chemical Society are the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Chemical Reviews, and Chemical and Engineering News.
