Adams, Arthur H. (1872-1936), was a New Zealand-born Australian journalist, poet, novelist, and playwright. Arthur Henry Adams was born in Otago, New Zealand, on June 6, 1872. He was raised in New Zealand and worked there as a journalist before moving to Australia in 1898. He began his literary career at the age of 27 with the publication of a collection of poems, Maoriland and Other Verses (1899). He traveled to China to report on the Boxer Rebellion (1900) for an Australian newspaper. He then spent a number of years in London writing a novel, Tussock Land (1904), and a collection of poetry called London Streets (1906).
