Abzug, AB zuhg, Bella Savitzky (1920-1998), a Democrat from New York, served in the United States House of Representatives from 1971 to 1977. She gained fame for her support of the women's rights movement. Abzug also supported legislation that promotes federal job programs, public transportation, and individual right to privacy. She served on the House Government Operations Committee and as chairwoman of its Subcommittee on Government Information and Individual Rights.
