Aberdeen, Earl of (1784-1860), was prime minister of the United Kingdom when the country entered the Crimean War in 1854. In the early months of the war, people were shocked to learn that the country was not prepared for the war. Aberdeen was forced to resign early in 1855 because of public reaction to the news.
